Based on the need to raise the level of cooperation and coordination between Syrian civil society institutions registered in Turkey, and in an effort to raise the level of interaction of Syrian civil society organizations with various Turkish entities, both the Union of Civil Society Organizations, which dates back to 2012, and the Syrian Associations Platform, which dates back to 2014; decided to merge into a single coordinating body under the name “Civil Society Organizations Platform”.
The two bodies announced their dissolution and the launch of the new umbrella body “Civil Society Organizations Platform” at the launch conference held in Istanbul on October 27, 2021, in the presence of prominent figures in the Syrian community and the Turkish community, and Turkish official figures.
In addition to the speeches of the guests of honor, the launch conference included the launch of the Harmony project – which works to support the social integration of immigrants and raise awareness of the host community about their issues, and a series of workshops with the participation of members of the General Assembly to discuss the vision of the new body and its objectives and strategies.
